What can you do to deal with the embarrassment. You can be honest, and say, "I know this is stupid, but I am struggling with OCD and I want to perform a ritual, but I'm going to do it and it's going to bother me if I don't." You don't have to say this out loud, but to yourself. You can step out of the room and gather yourself.
You can then come back in and just face it. If people think you're weird for having OCD, let them. You know that if they suffered with those kind of thoughts they would be just as worried and bothered as you.
